Community Banking Continued

A Community Promise 165 Years in the Making

Through the years, we have been there for our customers and shared communities by providing local support and financial solutions to achieve their goals. We take pride in serving our customers with the same level of commitment and enthusiasm that has become the standard for everything we do.

We believe that a thriving community is the best thing for our residents and businesses. That’s why NWSB Bank focuses on giving back and lending a hand whenever we can. Whether it’s volunteering, supporting local events, or helping our neighbors, NWSB Bank has built a reputation as a strong community partner.

How NWSB Bank gives back...

Team NWSB at Parade

Volunteering in Carroll County!

Team NWSB enjoys serving as active volunteers for Bank-sponsored initiatives including the New Windsor Parade, Carroll County 4-H Fair, Bowl for Kids’ Sake, Habitat for Humanity, and other activities that benefit many in our local communities. Independently, staff members contribute hundreds of volunteer hours annually with organizations like the American Red Cross, Carroll County Arts Council, Carroll County Chamber of Commerce, Carroll County Food Sunday, Habitat for Humanity of Carroll County, Northeast Social Action Program, Rape Crisis Intervention Service, Union Bridge Lions Club, and Westminster Rescue Mission. Many of our staff members serve in leadership roles with local community boards and committees, giving back to support our communities on their own time in a meaningful way.

Helping Hand

Lending a Hand in Times of Need

We launched a special initiative in April of 2020---NWSB Helping Hands---that serves to reinforce our ongoing commitment to community during the challenging times when the COVID-19 pandemic dramatically impacted local businesses and residents. This program, funded by both the Bank and its affiliated employees, provided nearly 6,000 meals prepared by 16 restaurant and catering businesses that are customers which were then distributed to people in need through 16 local community organizations across the Bank’s southcentral Pennsylvania and northern Maryland footprint.

Support for Those Who Need It Most

NWSB Bank takes its role as a community bank very seriously and is committed to supporting the basic needs of neighbors in the markets served. We contribute to community organizations that provide affordable housing or community services for low- or moderate-income (LMI) individuals, promote economic or workforce development, and impact community revitalization. TEAM NWSB also participates in meaningful activities such as home builds that require rolling up our sleeves and getting to work in new and different ways.

NWSB Bank Program for Schools

Teaching Kids about Money and Saving

For many years, NWSB Bank staff members have partnered with local schools in Carroll County, MD, to help teach children about money and how to save. We love visiting with students in their classroom or leading an assembly program in the auditorium for a larger group. The Bank’s mascot, Buckley, often tags along to join in the fun.

Community Collections

Our customers and local residents are incredibly generous. Throughout the year, NWSB Bank hosts community collection events at our offices and through other activities. Annually, we collect school supplies in the summer months and winter outerwear in the fall to assist the many families served by The Shepherd’s Staff in Carroll County, MD.

Casual for a Cause - Wear Red

Casual for a Cause

Throughout the year, staff members are given the opportunity to participate in Casual for a Cause. By making a minimum $5 donation, our team is eligible to wear jeans for the day. In the past, these activities have supported the American Heart Association and Go Red for Women, Big Brothers Big Sisters, American Cancer Society, USO, Junior Achievement, Bag the Bounty Food Drive, Holiday Family Outreach, and more. Since 2013, our team has raised more than $19,000 through Casual for a Cause.
