Economic Impact “Stimulus” Payments
The Internal Revenue Service and the Treasury Department have begun delivering a second round of Economic Impact Payments as part of the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act of 2021 to millions of Americans who received the first round of payments earlier this year. Together we continue to face the challenges of the pandemic and we understand how important these payments are to so many of our customers. Below is helpful information on how you may receive your payment:
The initial direct deposit payments and paper checks are already being distributed and will continue through January. The IRS emphasizes that there is no action required by eligible individuals to receive this second payment. For more information about eligibility, please visit the IRS website.
Paper check in the mail
Due to COVID-19, we encourage banking electronically when possible. If you receive a paper check, you can deposit it with your smart phone using Mobile Check Deposit or at any ACNB Bank ATM or drive-up location.
Automatic Deposit
Your payment may be deposited directly into the same account you used when you filed your 2019 tax return. The payment will appear in your account summary as “IRS TREAS 310 XXTAXEIP2” or something similar. Use online banking or the ACNB mobile app to conveniently verify the deposit.
Online Banking Alerts
Create an alert within Online Banking to be notified when your payment arrives. You can also set up account alerts to notify you when:
- A deposit has posted to your account.
- You reach a specific balance.
- A check has cleared.
- A bill payment or transfer has been completed.
Read our online banking guide to learn more about setting up account alerts. For more information about stimulus checks please visit the IRS website.
Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) – Update
New COVID-19 relief efforts are providing an additional $284.6 Billion in SBA Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) funding for loans to small businesses. Loans can be used to help fund payroll costs, including benefits. Funds can also be used to pay for mortgage interest, rent, utilities, worker protection costs related to COVID-19, uninsured property damage costs caused by looting or vandalism during 2020, and certain supplier costs and expenses for operations. Loans are also available for borrowers who have previously received a PPP loan.
NWSB Bank is committed to local businesses and ready to help customers receive these much needed funds. Below are updates on the application and forgiveness process:
New First-time and Second-time Borrower Applications
Effective Tuesday, January 19, 2020, applications are being accepted for First-time and Second-time borrowers. Below is information to keep in mind as you begin this process:
- Your first step is to reach out to your loan officer.
- Please let us know if this is your first or second loan request as there are different applications.
- Your application will be processed electronically and a link to the online application will be provided.
- Please remember the application is for the SBA and we are following their specific procedures in order to qualify for program funding.
- Second-time borrowers have to meet additional criteria:
- Have less than 300 employees
- Have used or will use the dollars from the first PPP loan
- Show a 25% reduction in gross receipts year over year when comparing the same quarter in 2020 versus 2019
Forgiveness Process
The recently approved legislation also impacts the PPP Forgiveness process, including the creation of a simplified Forgiveness Application form for loans under $150,000 whereby the borrower signs and submits a one-page certification to the lender. The SBA is providing their final guidance which includes that the borrower must attest they have accurately supplied the required certification and followed relevant program requirements.
NWSB Bank has taken a temporary pause and is not accepting new Forgiveness Applications until the new simplified process for loans under $150,000 has been completed by the SBA. NWSB Bank will continue to process loan Forgiveness Applications for loans $150,000-and-greater. If you have already submitted to the Bank your electronic forgiveness application (for a loan under $150,000), please contact your Loan Officer if you would like to take a temporary pause until the new simplified forgiveness procedures become available.
