COVID-19 and Our Commitment to You

During these unsettling times, our hearts go out to all who have been affected by COVID-19. Rest assured, NWSB Bank is working diligently behind the scenes and remains committed to the health and well-being of our customers and employees. Financial institutions are considered essential services and so NWSB Bank locations are open with drive-up service only. Please check this page before visiting an office.

 Face Covering Requirement

Per CDC recommendations and Maryland State requirements, everyone must wear a face covering when visiting our locations for in-person appointments. This is for the health and safety of our customers and team. If you prefer not to wear a face coverings, please use our drive-ups and electronic banking.

How NWSB Bank is Committed to You

Effective March 23, 2020 Until Further Notice

  • Limits on Mobile Banking deposit transactions have been raised temporarily so that customers have the ability to deposit checks in both higher dollar amounts and number.
  • All NWSB Bank fees for customers using an ATM, regardless of the location, are waived until further notice.
  • Early withdrawal fees on CDs open greater than seven days are waived until further notice.
  • To assist customers in managing deposit accounts, fees for account transfers conducted via the Customer Contact Center are waived and there is potential fee relief for overdraft services until further notice.
  • For personal loan customers experiencing financial hardship, processes are in place to assist in loan payment deferrals or other accommodations.
  • Additional staff have been allocated to assist customers over the telephone and to handle new customer enrollments in Online Banking, Mobile Banking, and Bill Pay.

Business Customer Assistance
For business loan customers, processes are in place to assist in loan payment deferrals or other accommodations:

  • Limits on Mobile Banking deposit transactions have been raised temporarily so that customers have the ability to deposit checks in both higher dollar amounts and number.
  • All NWSB Bank fees for customers using an ATM, regardless of the location, are waived until further notice.
  • Early withdrawal fees on CDs open greater than seven days are waived until further notice.
  • For business customers impacted by COVID-19, there is potential fee relief for the Bank’s deposit and lending solutions.
  • For all business customers, maintenance fees for Remote Deposit Capture services are waived until further notice.
  • For eligible business customers, the Bank is participating in any available government loan programs through the Small Business Administration or otherwise, including the Paycheck Protection Program.

CARES Act - Paycheck Protection Program

Update 4/27: Additional Funds Have Been Made Available

Like other financial institutions, NWSB Bank is participating as a lender in the CARES Act Paycheck Protection Program (PPP). This nationwide loan program from the SBA is designed to help small and mid-sized business affected by COVID-19 retain employees and maintain payroll. Program funding is limited and distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.

NWSB Bank is only accepting requests from customers with loan or deposit relationships established prior to March 1, 2020

800 Local Businesses Helped with PPP Loans

Our lobbies aren't open yet, but we'll be ready to welcome you back when we can. Our top priority continues to be keeping you and our teams safe and healthy.

To keep our lobbies clean and safe we:

  • Sanitize and clean in accordance with current recommended guidelines. This includes wiping down common surfaces and items with disinfectant made for coronavirus.
  • Are providing hand sanitizer to use during your visit.
  • Have instituted capacity limits.
  • Have installed protective barriers at our teller windows and in the offices so you feel comfortable making your transactions.
  • Placed floor decals to help maintain social distancing and to designate walking paths.
  • Are wearing face coverings and washing our hands frequently.
  • Will be requiring all customers wear face coverings while visiting our locations.

For your safety, we are currently limiting access to our offices by providing drive-up services only with modified hours at select locations. To request an in-person visit at a community banking office near you, please call the Contact Center at 1.844.822.6972.
